Computing for Time Deposit interest rate
How is the interest on my Multi-currency Time Deposit interest computed?
Interest is the amount your deposit earns when you place it in a GoTyme Bank’s Multi-currency Time Deposit. You can track your earnings daily and watch your money grow.
Interest depends on:
- The amount of your initial deposit
- The selected currency
- The annual interest rate based on the deposit term (tenor)
Here’s the formula:
(Initial deposit × Annual interest rate) × (Number of days / 365)
Let’s say you deposit US$1,000 for a 6-month term from July 5, 2025 to January 5, 2026, with an annual interest rate of 2.5%:
(US$1,000 × 2.5%) × (184 / 365) = US$12.60
Interest earnings are subject to a 20% withholding tax. So, in this example, you would receive:
US$12.60 − 20% tax = US$10.08 (net interest)
